Nestled in the rolling hills of Southeastern Ohio is Smoke Rise Ranch Resort. The resort is a working cattle ranch that offers guests an opportunity to experience the adventures of the west, not so far from home.
Whether you prefer to be part of the action - with cattle drives, team penning, cow cutting and guided trail rides, or to ride at your leisure - Smoke Rise is sure to give you a taste of the old west and the famed cowboy life-style.
Located just 7 miles from Burr Oak State Park, Smoke Rise is 2000 acres of privately owned land, bordered by a wildlife management area and the Wayne National Forest, totaling over 30,000 continuous acres.
The property has a host of features, from rock bluffs to lush green bottom land. There are ponds to water your horse, or just fish the day away. Birds, beaver, deer, turkey, raccoon, grouse, and squirrels just to name a few, all provide the opportunity to view some of the abundant wildlife here.
A Family Tradition...
The Ranch is owned and operated by the Semingson family. Walt and Helen and their four children have been in the ranching business all of their lives, from the Dakotas to Oregon, Arizona and now Ohio.
Breaking and training horses is what they do best. Walt and the boys participate in roping, cutting and team penning competitions in both the East and West.

Learn natural horsemanship, starting & development of colts, working cattle, roping & more. Work with your horse or ours. Private and group training sessions are available for both the horse and the rider. All levels of experience are welcome. Become a natural horseman. Practice techniques, philosophies & situations from the horse's point of view. Develop non-predator intuition & actions.
For those weekend get-aways, Smoke Rise has just the thing. Special events are planned throughout the year and guests are always welcome to enjoy the campgrounds or stay in one of our rustic cabins. Cattle round-ups, team penning clinics and competitions, fun days, pool parties, hay rides, BBQs, music and dancing are all part of the scheduled activities at Smoke Rise. The perfect place for parties, reunions & corporate outings.
Private Hunting Preserve
Reservations are available for archery deer season, muzzle loader & turnkey season. Strictly posted & patrolled to insure privacy.
