Do you remember going to your grandmother's house? It was always comfortable and welcoming. Well that’s Lawley House. This simple country farmhouse is neatly decorated in an odds-and-ends collection of furniture from family and friends, with a few flea market finds as well. The beds are made with cotton sheets fresh from the clothesline, soft quilts and down filled pillows. The rooms are clean and bright, with large windows and fresh, airy window dressings. If you like sweet sunshine, warm rain and cool shade, come to Lawley House. It’s simple here.
In 1895, John Lawley planted a pear orchard at Cookson. One tree is left, and is in the front yard at Lawley House. It is 110 years old and still bears fruit. Lawley House is named for Bryan and Garnet Lawley, the original owners of the home. Bryan and his family built their house near his parents, John and Susan Mathis Lawley. Lawley House is operated by Jennifer Sparks, great niece of Bryan Lawley and great granddaughter of John and Susie Lawley. |
Lawley House has three bedrooms, two with full sized beds, and one with a twin bed and trundle. The livingroom sofa is a queen-sized hide-a-bed. Lawley House has a large living room, dining room and kitchen with a sun porch on the back. The bathroom has a full tub and shower. The interior colors, from LuRay dishes popular in the 1950s, give Lawley House its wonderful sense of charm. The house is exceptionally clean, has central heat and air, and has a wonderful front porch with porch swing.
All amenities are included, such as bed and bath linens, washer & dryer, television, VCR, dishes, cookware and all kitchen utensils.
Whether you'd like a single day or an extended stay,you'll feel right at home at Lawley House.
