Fly Fishing
Jackson Hole and the surrounding areas offer a variety of fishing experiences. If you like big river fishing, the Snake River offers some of the best in the country. The Hoback River , just south of Jackson , can be a good place to catch some nice fish when it's on. It can really run hot or cold, so stopping by one of the local shops can, as always, be a good idea. If you continue southeast, you will reach the Green River just before Pinedale. The Green also offers some great fishing.
The Gros Ventre usually has only a short window of good fishing, but if you hit it right, you can have one wonderful day. It's a good river to wade, too.
If you prefer lake fishing, Jackson Lake , Yellowstone Lake , and Lewis Lake are all great places to put in a boat and throw out a line. Some easy to access smaller lakes include Jenny Lake , Leigh Lake , or String Lake . If you're up for a 3 mile hike, Goodwin Lake , just below Jackson Peak , often offers excellent fishing.
Climbing
From true mountaineering to sport climbing and bouldering, Jackson Hole is one of the top US destinations for rock climbing. Many famous climbers such as Paul Petzoldt, Alex Lowe, and Glenn Exum pioneered the routes to the top of our spires. Not only do the Tetons offer spec
